Life Saving Victoria recognises City’s leisure centres’ high safety standards
Friday, 9 February 2018
Life Saving Victoria has awarded all four of the City’s indoor leisure centres with a Platinum Pool accreditation for their commitment to providing exemplary safety.
Leisurelink, Splashdown, Waterworld and Bellarine Aquatic & Sports Centre were among only 25 pools across Victoria to receive the accreditation – a sign of excellence in the industry.
Platinum Pool accreditation requires the leisure centres to adhere to a strict code of practice and be subjected to a series of assessments each year to ensure they meet Life Saving Victoria’s stringent safety criteria for public pools.
Assessments included pool safety processes and procedures, risk management processes and child water safety programs including Watch Around the Water and Learn to Swim.
City of Greater Geelong Mayor, Bruce Harwood:
“Only 25 centres across Victoria currently hold Platinum Pool accreditation and four of them are in Geelong.
“Life Saving Victoria is very selective about awarding Platinum Pool accreditation and must be completely satisfied a centre has attained the highest level of safety requirements and standards across all aspects of its operations.
“The fact our centres have achieved accreditation is a testament to the hard work and commitment of their management and staff. Congratulations to all involved.”
